Thanks for contacting TD Helps today, Miranda. This is a great question, and we'll be happy to help.
Generally, when you open a checking account, you will receive 2-3 starter checks to hold you over until a check order arrives. Once you have received the checks that you have ordered for your account, you may securely discard your starter checks, and begin using the new checks you have received.
If you have not yet received the checks you ordered, and wish to use any starter checks that you may have in your possession, you may do so. They will still be valid. Should you decide to use a starter check, we recommend contacting any merchants to determine if they are able to accept this form of payment before issuing the check.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to a Customer Service Representative at 1-888-751-9000. Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will be more than happy to assist you. In addition, you're also able to visit any TD Store during lobby hours for assistance. We hope this helps, Miranda. Enjoy the rest of your day, and have a great weekend.
