Good afternoon, Onika!
This is a great question, and we'll be happy to help.
Generally speaking, while a Customer Service Representative will need to obtain your Social Security Number from you when opening a new account, you will not need to physically provide your Social Security card. However, please know that this can vary on a case by case basis, and we'd like to recommend connecting with your nearest TD Store location, during lobby hours, before your visit.
If you'd like, you're welcome to use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to find your nearest TD Store location, as well as their lobby hours and contact information.
If you would prefer to not visit a TD Store location to open your new account, we're happy to let you know that there are a couple other options available to you!
First, you're welcome to call 1-888-751-9000 to speak with one of our Banking Specialists. For your convenience, they are available to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You're also welcome to open your account directly from our website, www.tdbank.com, and we'll be happy to guide you on how this may be completed.
You'll first want to decide if you'd prefer to open a Checking or a Savings account. TD Bank's current Checking accounts can be found by clicking here: https://go.td.com/2eQORxu. If you're interested in a Savings account, you can learn more using this link: https://go.td.com/2bSlkVn. If you would prefer a personalized recommendation based on your needs, you may use our Selector Tool here: https://go.td.com/2sx4N2E. When you're ready to open your account online, using the links above, find the account of your choosing, and then simply click on the orange 'Open Account' button to get started.
Regardless of the method you choose, you will need to provide a valid form of I.D., as well as your Social Security Number.
We can't wait to have you as part of the TD family, Onika!
Take care, and have an amazing weekend!
