Thanks for connecting with us on TD Helps, Anne.
Currently TD Bank is not affiliated with any banks in Italy nor are there any TD locations there. We are currently located along the East Coast of the United States, from Maine to Florida. We are happy to inform you though that your daughter can use her TD Visa debit card at any location that accepts VISA across the globe! While she's traveling, she can also make ATM withdrawals from any machine that displays the VISA or NYCE logo. Please note; each time a Non-TD Bank ATM is utilized, including international ATMs, a non-TD ATM fee may apply depending on her account type. For more information on our fee schedule, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. She also may be assessed an additional fee at the time of withdrawal. This fee is set by the machine owner and not associated with TD Bank. We do offer some deposit account products that will either waive non-TD ATM fees or receive unlimited ATM surcharge refunds. For more information, please refer to the fee schedule provided above.
Also know that at this time, TD Bank is not charging international transactions fees when making purchases with a TD debit card outside of the U.S.
To make sure she does not experience any acceptance issues, we recommend that she places a travel notification on her account before leaving for Italy. She can do so anytime by calling our 24/7 Customer Service line at 888-751-9000.
If she's enrolled in Online Banking, she can submit a travel notification via secure message. To send a secured message she must first login to her TD Bank online profile. She can do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. On the left hand side, she'll see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center.” In the message, please include the dates and destination(s) she will be traveling.
When she places travel notification it makes us aware of foreign transactions on her account and help monitor her account's security. While traveling, we also recommend that she carries more than one method of payment, just in case she encounters any acceptance issues. For more travel tips while overseas, please visit http://bit.ly/1gDrDYu. She may also want to review our international travel tips frequently asked questions by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1ltwDDc.
Please let us know if you have any other questions and we hope your daughter has a wonderful time in Italy.
