My father recently passed away. I am his daughter and Executor. I am trying to verify if an account he had with TD Bank still exists. The online password he left in his papers isn't working and I'm not sure if this account is still open or if he closed it. What do I need to do/provide to find out if the account is still open? It is a joint account with my mother (who has dementia). Thank you.

It’s a pleasure to assist you today, Denise. We'd like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family.
In the unfortunate event of a Customer’s death, it is important for TD Bank to assist the family and/or the Executor/Administrator with our Customer’s account(s). An Executor or an Administrator for the decedent’s estate may access the deposit account.
In order to access the account or close the account of the deceased Customer, the Executor or Administrator must provide the following documentations to a TD Bank Store: Photo identification, Copy of the Death Certificate, and an original Certificate of Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration with a raised seal dated within 60 days, and a Letter of Instructions signed by all the Executors or Administrators with signature guaranteed by another financial institution. The death certificate will provide date of death if the date-of-death balance for the account is requested. Please keep in mind that these documents do vary by State.
We recommend visiting the TD Bank Store closest to where your family member lived, or give us a call directly 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with a Banking Specialist for further information. For locations and hours, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores. There may be alternative options to access their estate even if you are not able to make it into a TD Bank Store; please reach out to us so that we may best assist you given the circumstances.
If you are only intending to find out if the individual's account is active or non-active, you may call our Representatives at the number listed above for assistance. Please understand for security purposes, that would be the only information we would provide.
Thanks for reaching out to us, and please take care Denise.
