My husband and I both have separate individual/personal accounts. We would like to open a joint account but wish to keep our personal accounts. We would like to know how LINKING the joint account with personal accounts would affect our current access. For example, will I be able to only access the joint account + my personal accounts on my card while he can only access the joint account + his personal accounts on his? If we use online banking, when we log in, will he be able to see transactions for my personal accounts? what type of access should we expect?

Thank you for reaching out to us on TD Helps, Helena! We'll be happy to address any questions you may have.
Generally, in order to open a joint account, both parties must be visiting a TD Bank store together. Please make sure both parties, including you, bring the following documents: a valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.) and Social Security number. Please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a TD Bank near you.
Take a look at our many different types of Checking accounts here: http://bit.ly/1aDaRqd or check out our Checking Selector Tool here http://bit.ly/KmmHe7 for help choosing a Checking account that is the best fit you. At TD Bank, we also offer Savings Accounts for all of your saving needs! We recommend taking a look at http://bit.ly/1pJT9I9 for more detailed information on each particular Savings Account available. You may find it helpful to check out our customized Savings Selector Tool, found here: http://bit.ly/1hXi2wF.
After setting up your new joint account, you will be able to access your joint account and your individual account via your online profile and your husband will be able to access his individual account and the joint account via his online profile. If you each have a debit card already, you will have a choice either obtaining a new debit card for this joint account or linking the existing debit card to the joint account as well.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000.
We hope this helps and please let us know if you have any additional questions, Helena!
