Hi, Our tax refund has incorrectly been sent to an account we previously closed this year. Does TD Bank keep accounts closed permanently and not allow the same account number to be re-opened by someone else in the future? How long before TD will reject the deposit since the account has been closed? Thank you

Thanks for joining us today, Edward.
TD Bank may a return a direct deposit to the sender within one business day of receiving the deposit if your account is closed. We recommend allowing 2-3 business days for receipt at the originating bank once they have been sent back. To determine the status of your funds, please contact your refund depositor to ensure they have received them, and to provide an alternate deposit option for them.
We recommend contacting the accountant you filed your taxes with so they may update your information. We also recommend taking a look here: http://1.usa.gov/1xM6Tac. This link will direct you to the IRS Tax Refund FAQs which also provides information that may be helpful in redirecting your return.
For any questions you may have, feel free to give us a call. We're available 24/7 for you and we can be reached at 888-751-9000. Or you can stop in at any of our convenient Store locations found here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We appreciate your visit, Edward and have a good one.
