When a client of TD Bank has an educational fund set up through TD Bank and requests donations in lieu of flowers for a memorial service, what kind of documentation can a business obtain from the client or TD Bank before making a donation?
Is there an IRS document (like a W-9) typically available in these cases?

Hi Lisa, thanks for coming by TD Helps.
When making a deposit into a Memorial or Trust account typically, it is only required to have either the account number or name of the account in order to make a deposit.
For any questions you may have about the tax benefits of donating, we encourage you to get in contact with your tax advisor for more information as we normally do not provide any documentation when making a deposit into one of these types of accounts.
We hope this helps, Lisa and take care.
