I would like to know how I can set-up online a transfer of money from my TD Bank account in the US to my TD Canada Trust account in Canada. I manage to do that on the Canadian side with visa transfer, but do not know how to do it on the US side.
Is it simply the same procedure as any external transfer? (routing number etc.)
Please advise! Thanks

Hey Matthieu, we appreciate you connecting with us and would be glad to help.
What you are describing is called Visa Money Transfer (VMT). Just like you mentioned, this feature allows you to send money from your TD Canada Trust account to your TD Bank account in the U.S. via EasyWeb. We invite you visit here: http://bit.ly/1nCH7QZ for further information. Also, our friend Sonia from Canada answered a similar question, take a look here: http://bit.ly/1rBwQBi.
Currently, with our External Transfer via your TD Online Banking, you can only transfer funds to an account you have within the US. As you mentioned you have both TD Bank account and TD Canada Trust account, we invite you to connect with our Banking Specialists at Cross-Border Banking. You may contact our Cross-Border Banking Specialists 24/7 at 1-877-700-2913. For more details, please check out: http://bit.ly/1ienPN4.
We hope this helps and please let us know should you have any other banking questions.

Thanks for your answer.
A side question: an external transfert from my TD Bank (US) account can only be to an account I own? Or can I use it to pay rent to my landlord, for example?

Welcome back, Matthieu. We'd be happy to clarify.
Our External Transfer service is used to transfer from TD Bank to an account you hold at a different institution within the United States. If you are interested in paying bills such as your landlord with your TD U.S. account, we recommend taking a look at our Bill Pay services. For more information, please visit here: http://bit.ly/1nAVkiK. Keep in mind, Bill Pay can only be used to pay business and individuals within the U.S.
We hope this helps, Matthieu and have a great day!

Thanks, this gets me a bit more closer to where I want to be. However, I'm not there yet!
I tried the Bill Pay service, as you suggested, and entered Home->Person and then my landlord's contact info, but I had no box to entered his routing number and account number. What would happen if I click send payment? He would receive a printed cheque? Is there a way I just program a direct transfert of money online with his account number and routing?

Hello again, Matthieu! We'll be glad to shed some extra light on the subject of account transfers for you!
There are currently three available options via Online Banking to transfer funds from your TD account to another account. The first option we'd like to go over is Bill Pay, with this feature you're able to set up Billers and send one-time or recurring payments. Also note, this is a free service that we offer. When creating a Biller, it will not be required to enter in the routing number in addition to the account number because if you're using this feature to pay an individual, it will be sent by paper check in the mail to the physical address that you enter for this individual. Once the check has been received they will be able to deposit it into their account.
Next, let's discuss our Person-to-Person payment feature. This type of payment is sent electronically within 1 – 3 days (depending on the delivery speed chosen). A Person-to-Person payment can only be sent to someone else's account (such as your landlord) at either TD Bank or another Financial Institution within the U.S. Using this service, you would be required to enter the recipient's Routing number and Account number and the payment would be processed electronically.
The last transfer option available through Online Banking is an External Transfer. External Transfers are similar to Person-to-Person payments; the main difference being who the recipient is. Whereas a Person-to-Person payment would be used to send money to someone else's account, you would use an External Transfer to send money from your TD Bank account to a bank account that you have at another U.S. financial institution. For both Person-to-Person payments and External Transfers, fees may be assessed. We invite you to view our current fee schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
Going back to your original question Matthieu, you did mention that you were looking to transfer from TD Bank to TD Canada Trust, and we do want to remind you that the above mentioned transfer options are all only able to send money within the United States only. If your landlord has an account with TD Canada Trust, we ask that you contact our Cross Border Banking Support Line 24/7 by dialing 877-700-2913 to determine how we could help through our Cross-Border services that may be available to you.
If you have any other questions about transfers or anything else, please let us know and enjoy your day, Matthieu.
