I am trying to change my paper statement to online statement and keep getting an error message that says create a valid nickname. What are the criteria for a valid nick name?

We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble signing up for paperless statements, Beth. We'd be glad to help.
To change to paperless statements, you must first log in to your Online Banking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. Once signed in, please follow the steps below:
1. Click the “Customer Service” tab.
2. Select the link for “Online Statement Settings”.
3. Select the “Online Statements” option for each of your accounts.
4. Add the Email Address you wish to have statement alerts sent to.
5. Review and accept the Online Paperless Statement Customer Agreement and Hardware and Software Requirements.
6. Click the check boxes indicating you meet our system requirements and click “Save Changes”.
Please know that entering a nickname to enroll in paperless statements is optional. You are able to manage the nicknames of your account by selecting the "Accounts" tab and then selecting "Manage Nicknames" on the left hand side.

I am having the same exact problem. However it is saying a have to create a nickname in-order to change my account to paperless. I have tried creating a nickname and it says it's invalid and I have tried leaving it blank, but it says I have to create one.

It sounds like you have not yet established your contacts for online banking. You will need to complete your contacts before signing up for online statements so that we know where to send your notifications.
To add a new contact for messages related to online banking, you may follow the steps below:
1. Click the “Alerts” link at the top of the screen
2. Click "add a contact" under the “Manage your Contacts” section
3. Specify a nickname and email address and click on "Add Contact".
Once this step is completed, you should be able to proceed with enrolling in online statements.
