Thanks for checking out TD Helps, Ruth! We want you to have a smooth trip to Venezuela and we'll be glad to help!
First, you'll be happy to know that TD Bank does not charge any foreign transactions fees for purchases made with your TD Bank Visa debit card. Please keep in mind that the exchange rate you would receive is not set by the bank. Foreign exchange rates are published by the government and fluctuate daily, and customers will pay the Visa exchange rate at the time of a purchase or ATM withdrawal.
In the event that you make an ATM withdrawal while in Caracas, Ruth, we would like to take the opportunity to advise you about fees that can be incurred while using international ATMs.
Each withdrawal, transfer, and balance inquiry made at an ATM not owned by TD is subject to a $3.00 fee, which is charged by TD Bank the same day the transaction is made (subject to change). This may be in addition to any fee assessed by the owner of the ATM or network, and may include fees for both withdrawals and balance inquiries. Feel free to refer to http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (pages 44-45) and the link which follows below for more information about what type of fees to expect.
Depending on the type of account you have with us, your non-TD ATM fees may be reimbursed with a $2500.00 daily minimum balance. Please check out: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt for information about the type of accounts needed to avoid a non-TD ATM fee.
If you have one of these account types, we suggest keeping your foreign ATM transaction receipts. We want to make sure you are properly reimbursed for your fees! If your account qualified and your non-TD ATM fees are not automatically refunded to you, you can take these receipts to your local TD Bank store within 90 days for an immediate credit.
If you use any ATM in a foreign country, you may also incur international, currency exchange and usage fees regardless of the type of account you have at TD Bank.
Please also keep in mind that if you plan to travel and haven't already done so, we recommend contacting us at least one week before your trip with your travel information. You can do so by calling our Customer Service Line directly at 888-751-9000, and we will be happy to place your travel notification.
Finally, if we can be of any help to you during your trip please take note of these methods to contact us. You can send a message after logging in to your online account at http://bit.ly/1eaISlq for help, by clicking on the Customer Service tab and finding the link to Send a Message. Please also contact us from outside the United States by phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. We are available 24/7 for your convenience.
And just in case you would like to use your TD Bank Visa Credit Card while traveling, please call 888-561-8861 to place your travel notification 24/7 with a TD Card Services Representative, and to find out more about any fees or the exchange rate for your account.
We hope this answers your question, Ruth! We wish you a great trip and take care.
