I have a friend who live in China. He wants to open an bank account in U.S. But the problem is he doesn't have a SSN. Can he apply his bank account by applying his Chinese driver license, passport and anything you need? He wants to open a checking account for receiving money and online shopping. Please let me know if he can open an account. Thank you so much.

Welcome to TD Helps, Feiyu! We'd be glad to help you friend open an account with TD.
In order for your friend to open an account with us, he will need to visit us at a TD Bank Store. For hours and locations nearby, take a look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We also that your friend takes a look at the accounts we have to offer. To view and compare our checking accounts, visit http://bit.ly/1aDaRqd or check out our Checking Selector Tool http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU for help with selecting a checking account that best suits his needs.
To view and compare savings account products, click on http://bit.ly/1pJT9I9 , or we also have a Savings Selector Tool http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM which can help with selecting a savings account.
Once he is ready to visit a Store, as a Non-US resident he will need to bring two forms of identification. One form of ID must be a Non-US passport and the second form of ID he may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
We also recommend that your friend reaches out to the TD Store he plans to visit prior to his trip to determine if any additional documents are needed.
We hope this helps you and your friend, Feiyu. Have a good day.
