Great question, John. We'd be happy to clarify.
The Core Checking account is a product type that we unfortunately no longer offer here at TD. In remaining competitive with other institutions, over time we may have to update our offerings to continually provide you with great banking solutions to meet your needs. Some products may be discontinued so that we may adjust other products or offer new ones in their place. If you have any specific questions about a product that we no longer offer, we encourage you to reach out to our 24/7 Banking Specialists at 888-751-9000 so that they may review it with you.
As you've mentioned, you can take a look at the Checking accounts that we currently offer by visiting http://bit.ly/Wczmq0. If you're looking to open a new account, you may even receive a custom recommendation by using our Checking Selector Tool found here: http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU.
If you decide that you may not want a second account at this time, but feel a different account type suits your needs better than the Core Checking account, our Representatives would be happy to assist you in making this change. You can call us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000 or visit a TD Store during lobby hours for help. To take a look at Store locations near you, please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If your account is enrolled for Online Banking, you may also send a Secure Message to update your account. To send a Secure Message you must first logon to your TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. On the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center”. When sending us the Secure Message, please be sure to provide us your account number and the account type you are requesting and we will be happy to process your request.
If you are not enrolled in Online Banking and would like to be, you can start the process here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that you will need your account number, ATM/Visa Debit Card number, Social Security number and email address to sign up. If you have any trouble doing so, feel free to contact us by using the number mentioned above or by visiting a TD Store.
Please note that updating your account to a different type does not affect your account number or your Debit Card.
We hope this helps, John and have a good day.
