Hi, I want to know if by checking the balance of a gift card over the phone number that is provided, can make renew the active period on the card active and thereby not leaving it enter into a period of inactivity?

Good morning, Mike, and welcome to TD Helps!
You have a great question.
Here at TD Bank, our Visa Gift Cards can unfortunately become inactive after 12 consecutive months of inactivity, and should this occur, a fee may also be assessed on a monthly basis until Customer initiated activity occurs. At this time, Customer activity is considered a purchase having being made, either online, over the phone, or with a merchant directly. We apologize for any inconvenience as reviewing the balance on your card will not be considered Customer initiated activity at this time.
If you'd like, you're welcome to check out our Gift Card Terms and Agreements here: https://go.td.com/2IJgRCX, or you may also connect with one of our Gift Card Specialist if you have any additional questions or concerns. For your convenience, they're here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached by simply dialing 1-888-294-2249.
We sincerely hope this helps, Mike.
Thanks again for stopping by, and take care.
