All check deposits must go through verification. In most cases, we make the first $100 available immediately and the remainder is released the following business day.
There are instances when we may hold the remainder for extra verification. This could be for several reasons, but there are some common causes of this. If this is a brand new account you have with us here at TD Bank, we may hold check deposits for additional time during the first 30 days. After 30 days, you should have normal availability. Regardless of the length of time you have an account with us, there are times we are unable to receive initial verification from the originating bank and we may hold the check for additional time while we await that verification. This sometimes occurs with larger checks. Usually this hold is not more than one extra business day. If we must hold it longer than that, you should receive a letter by mail making you aware of the hold.
