Good morning, Amanda.
Thanks for bringing your question to TD Helps. We'll be happy to clear up any confusion.
Here at TD Bank, we offer overdraft protection in the form of Savings Overdraft Protection. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds as if this may be the overdraft protection you have linked to your Checking account. If this is the case, we'll be more than happy to explain this service in further detail!
When you opt to have your accounts linked for Savings Overdraft Protection, in the event that your Checking account becomes overdrawn, we will perform a transfer for you at the end of the business day from your Savings account to bring your Checking account to a positive balance again. By doing so, you may be able to avoid being assessed overdraft fees. It's important to note that a fee may also be assessed for this service, and we invite you to check out our Fee Schedule here: https://go.td.com/2kFZ5mK for more information.
We also offer a discretionary overdraft service, TD Debit Card Advance, which allows us to cover your everyday debit card transactions, even when you may not have the funds available in your account. If your debit card is enrolled in this service, TD Bank will authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions. We offer this service as a convenience, and as a safety net to give you the peace of mind of knowing that your card will work for you when you need it most. It's important to note that fees may also be assessed for this service, and we invite you to check out the link above for more information.
As we are currently unable to access your account to determine which service you may have opted to take advantage of, we'd like to recommend that you connect with us directly so that we may review your account with you directly.
Our Banking Specialists are always happy to help, and can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by simply dialing 1-888-751-9000. If you'd prefer, you're also welcome to visit a TD Store location, during lobby hours, to speak with a Customer Service Representative. To take a look at Store locations and their hours, please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
If you'd prefer, you also have the option of sending us a secure message. To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
We hope this clears up any confusion, Amanda. Thanks for stopping by today, and have a great weekend!
