Welcome to TD Helps, Linda. Great question and we'd be happy to help provide information regarding your inquiry.
Please understand that here at TD Bank, we no longer offer certified checks; however we do offer official checks instead. An official check is a negotiable instrument of guaranteed funds purchased from a national bank.
Customers may purchase official checks for any amount at any TD location inside the Store during lobby hours. For Store hours please check out http://bit.ly/TDStores. Fees may apply for this purchase depending on your account type, and please review our current Fee Schedule at http://bit.ly/1cTejgt for further information.
Please note: if you have any of the below types of account, official checks are free:
• TD Sixty Plus Checking • TD Premier and Private Premier Checking • TD Relationship and Private Relationship Checking • Private Tiered Checking • 50 Plus and Private 50 Plus Checking • TD and Private High-Yield Savings • Elite Savings • TD Relationship Savings • Select and Private Select Money Market • Plus and Private Plus Money Market
To determine what type of account your currently have, it is viewable on your statements. You can also see it on your online banking. If you’re currently enrolled for online banking, when you log in click on the “Accounts” tab and it’ll be listed under the “Deposit Accounts” section. If you do not currently use online banking, you may enroll by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your account number, debit card number and Social Security number.
Since you mentioned that you recently initiated a wire transfer into your account, please be aware that while the transfer is still pending, the funds may not be fully available until posted to your account. In some cases, this may not be until the following business day. We recommend reaching out to us by phone 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or contacting your local TD Store to confirm that the funds are fully available prior to coming in to purchase a Certified Check. Your local TD Store can be found here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Let us know if you have any other questions, Linda. Enjoy your day.
