I am in Los Angeles, CA. I am going to create an account that I can deposit US and Canadian dollars. Is this possible in TD?

Once you have decided on the best account for your banking needs, you may use the Open Account button at these links to begin your account application, or you're welcome to open your account by phone. Feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives. To begin, you'll need your US Social Security number and a valid personal identification such as a Driver's license, State ID, or Passport.
Please note that we do not offer Canadian Dollar accounts at this time. To deposit Canadian Dollars to your account, the funds must be exchanged to US currency prior to the deposit. Once you have exchanged the funds to US Dollars, you can then deposit it into your account by using your TD ATM/Debit Visa Card. You have the ability to make deposits at non-TD ATMs as long as it is listed as a NYCE shared deposit ATM. Keep in mind that any deposits made at non-TD Bank ATMs will take longer to clear your account. We recommend converting the cash to a non-monetary instrument such as a Money Order prior to making the deposit at a non-TD Bank ATM. Check deposits made with your card at these ATMs can take up to seven business days after the deposit is made while cash deposits can take up to five business days.
You also have the option to deposit your check via bank by mail. Bank by mail allows you to mail in your deposits and we will make the deposit for you! To use this feature, please mail your check deposits along with your deposit slips to our Mail Depositor Teller at: TD Bank, N.A. ME2-001-033, P.O. Box Number 1190 Lewiston, ME 04243. Please be sure to clearly write your account number and the words “For Deposit Only” on the back of your check. We check our P.O. Box daily and transactions will be posted on the day they are received. Please also note that TD Bank is not responsible for items lost in the mail.
Like any other deposits, a few simple guidelines apply:
- Cash should not be sent through the mail.
- Payee of the check and name on account should be the same.
- Checks should be endorsed (and restricted for deposit only).
Additionally, once you have opened an account with TD Bank, while we don't currently have any Store locations in California, we have made it easier than ever to do your banking no matter where you are. You could contact our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) at 888-751-9000. Please note, when calling this number, you will need your account number, which can be found on your statements or also located at the bottom of your checks. Once you verify your account through the IVR system, you will be able to retrieve account information. If you cannot verify your information using this system – that's okay! When dialing that number, you will also have the option to speak with a live Customer Service Representative, 24/7.
Also, our Online Banking and Mobile Banking make it easier to maintain your account wherever you are. If you're not currently enrolled for Online Banking, you may do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Please have your account number, debit card number and Social Security number available. If you have any trouble signing up, please contact us at the number listed above. You can always get information about your account by viewing your online Statements or by sending us a Secure Message if you are unable to connect with us via the telephone. To send a Secure Message, you must first be logged on to your Online Banking profile. On the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center.”
Once you are signed up for Online Banking, you can then take advantage of our Mobile Banking as well. You can click here: http://bit.ly/1opBqUt to download the Mobile App. Please note that the Mobile Banking App is available for most iPhone, Android, and Blackberry phones at this time. Again, if you have any issues with the Mobile Banking App or need assistance logging in, please contact us.
