I want to purchase an air ticket using my debit card, but payment was not approved hence my request to know balance. I am still in Africa, Zimbabwe.

Hello Edward, we hope you're doing well. We're sorry that your debit card was recently declined, and we'll be glad to help.
There are a few ways that you can obtain your balance. If you are currently enrolled in online banking, you would be able to view your TD account balance online. Once you log in to your account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq, you can click on the 'Accounts' tab at the top of the page, then click on the name of the account you want to view, and you'll be able to see the balance there.
If you're not currently enrolled in online banking and would like to be enrolled, you may click here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Please have your account number, ATM/debit card number and Social Security number available to complete the enrollment.
You can also call our automated banking system at 1-856-751-9000 to check your balance.
As you mentioned that you're traveling, and if you didn't inform us of your travel, it's possible that we placed a block on your debit card for security purposes. We encourage you to call us directly so that we can review the account. You may also contact us from outside the United States collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518.
