We appreciate your visit today, Camila. Although we would hate to lose you as a Customer, we understand and would be glad to help.
As you mentioned you currently still have a balance in your account and you wish to close your account, the easiest way to close the account from abroad is via mailed written request. By doing so, any funds available in your account will be sent to you by check. When sending us a request via mail, please be sure to include the following information:
▪Your account number(s)
▪Your request to close the account(s)
▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized and mail to the address below:
TD Bank, N.A
P.O. Box 1377
If you prefer, another option is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. Please keep in mind that fees may apply when using a non-TD ATM to withdraw funds. Please visit: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt for our Fee Schedule as it outlines any applicable fees.
If you choose to use this method, once the funds have been removed, please contact a Specialist 24/7 from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or call collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. It will be necessary to make a specific request to close the account once the balance is zero; please note, the account will not close automatically. Or if it's easier, you can also send a Specialist your request to close your account via Secure Message by logging onto your TD Online Banking.
If you are enrolled for TD Online Banking, please log onto your account from here: http://bit.ly/SMUhhl. After you log in, you may send a secure message by selecting "Send a secure message" located on the left hand side of the page, beneath "Message Center." You can also find the "Message Center" by clicking on the "Customer Service" tab at the top of the page.
If you are not currently enrolled for online banking, you can sign up by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY, if you have a TD Bank Visa Debit Card or ATM number, and a US Social Security number. If not, you're more than welcome to contact a Banking Specialist directly at the numbers above for assistance with enrollment.
We hope this helps Camila. Please let us know if you need anything else. Have a great day!
