account? Are there any special rules at all, or a minimum first deposit? I really, really want to make sure it's free if I just keep $100 in there, that's really all I have to do? I need a new bank desperately and am considering TD. Thanks Hi, If I open a checking account with TD Bank, is it completely free of any fees or charges if I can keep a $100 minimum balance in the account? Are there any special rules at all, or a minimum first deposit? I really, really want to make sure it's free if I just keep $100 in there, that's really all I have to do? Great question, C.H. and thanks for stopping by TD Helps for your answer. We appreciate you considering TD Bank for your banking needs.
Here at TD Bank, there is no set amount that you need to open an account nor you must keep in your account; however, some accounts do require a daily minimum balance to avoid a monthly maintenance fee.
To view and compare our personal Checking accounts, visit http://bit.ly/1aDaRqd or check out our Checking Selector Tool http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU for help with selecting a Checking account that is the best fit for you.
Once you decide on the Checking account type that best suits your needs, you can open the account via online, telephone or at any TD Bank location during lobby hours. To open the account via online, click on the "Open Account" button below the account you choose and fill in the required fields. You can open an account via telephone 24/7 by calling our Customer Service line at 888-751-9000 and one of our Banking Specialists can open the account for you. Please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find TD Bank near you, if you choose to visit a Store. You will need to bring a valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.) and Social Security number.
If you are a Non-US resident and do not have SSN at this present time, you will need to bring two forms of identification with you and stop by your local TD Bank store during our lobby hours to set up your new account. One form of ID must be a Non-US passport and the second form of ID you may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
We also understand changing banks can be challenging. We’ve developed this Easy Switch Checklist to help you navigate the process. Check out http://bit.ly/1nEm90e to see this easy-to-follow guide.
We hope this information answers all your questions. Please let us know should you have any further questions. Have a great day!
