Hi Melissa, thanks for connecting with us! We're glad you reached out to TD Helps with this and very glad you're interested in opening an account!
Usually, when you deposit a check with a teller at TD Bank, the first $100 is made available immediately and the rest of the funds are generally credited to your account on the following business day.
Please know that if you are a new account owner and your account has not been open for 30 days yet, then check deposits may be held for up to 7 business days for verification. After your first 30 days as a new Customer, you can expect that your account will be provided with our standard funds availability mentioned above.
In case you're opening your account with a Cashier's Check, you'll be glad to know that even as a new account holder, funds from the first $5,000 of a day’s total deposits of Cashier’s, Certified, Teller’s, Traveler’s, and Federal, State, and local government checks will be available on the first business day after the date of your deposit. Please keep in mind, if you make a deposit at TD Bank before 8:00 PM on a business day, it would be considered a deposit on that business day. A business day is every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. For weekend deposits, this usually means that the deposit will be considered on Monday's business day and will be available on Tuesday.
We invite you to look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ, which can explain our Deposit Availability Policy in full detail on Pg. 38-41.
Feel free to contact a Banking Specialist 24/7 at 888-751-9000 if you have any further questions. Or, you're more than welcome to reach out to your local TD Bank Store. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a location and lobby hours near you.
Hope this helps Melissa. And we look forward to doing business with you! Have a great Holiday!
