Dear Madam/ Sir
In your answer to my letter you said that I need to own a social security number, which I don't because I was a tourist in the USA, and a European citizen. My account is a convenience account.
So my situation in a summary is:
- Tourist in the USA (European Citizen, therefor no social security number)
- Left the USA and don't intend to comeback in a few years (I want to close the account between this week and the next because my boyfriend is also leaving the USA)
- Need to transfer or withdraw the remaining money from the account in order to close it (I just want the money to come back to me in order to close the account and I don't really want to use my card in Portugal).

In reply to Rita, Lisbon
Welcome back, Rita! We'll be glad to help with a few more options.
If you're unable to use our Transfer service, we recommend the options below to remove the funds from your account and have it closed.
First, an easy way to close the account is via mailed written request. You may request to close your account and any available money in your account will be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your name ▪Your account number(s) ▪Your request to close the account(s) ▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:
TD Bank, N.A
P.O. Box 1377
Or, it can be mailed to the address of your home Store. If you know which your home Store is, you may find it here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you prefer, another option is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. Once the account balance is zero, you can contact a friendly Banking Specialist to request that the account be closed.
If this option suits you better, we suggest using a local ATM to withdraw funds from your account. If your account is a checking with a Visa debit card, you can also opt to visit a bank in Lisbon to request a cash advance of your funds. Please note that Daily Limits on Personal Debit Cards are $762.00 for ATM withdrawals, and $5,000.00 for Cash Advances.
Once the funds have been removed, please contact a Specialist 24/7 from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. Or, if it's easier, you can also send a Specialist your request to close your account via Online Banking. Please log in to your account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and once logged in, visit the Customer Service tab. The Send a Message link will be available there for you to make your request. Should you require any increase for your debit card limits, this may also be done via this messaging system.
Hope one of these options will work for you, Rita! Please let us know about any other questions and best of luck to you.
