Thanks for writing in today, Linda.
We understand that sometimes individual banking needs change. We'd like to take the opportunity to share our Savings Selector Tool that can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM. It may help you choose a better Savings account to fit your needs. We also recommend taking a look at our Finance 101 page that can be found here: http://bit.ly/1dHULN9. The page has great tips for saving on a variety of budgets that may help you in the future.
If you still wish to close your account, there are a few ways you can do so. You can visit a TD Store during lobby hours for assistance. To take a look at locations near you and their hours please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores. You can also call our Representatives 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000.
You can also send your account closing request by Secure Message if you've previously enrolled in online banking. You may send a secure message by logging in and selecting "Send a secure message" located on the left hand side of the page, beneath "Message Center."
Please note that your account must be at a zero balance in order to close it via secure message and over the telephone.
If your account still has funds available, that is okay! If you have an active TD Checking account, you have the option of transferring the funds into your Checking account to bring the balance to zero. The second option would be to withdraw the funds from a TD Bank ATM with your Debit/ATM card.
If your account has remaining funds, the easiest way to close the account is via mailed written request. You may request to close your account and any available money will be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your name ▪Your account number(s) ▪Your request to close the account(s) ▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:
TD Bank, N.A
P.O. Box 1377
Please keep in mind that it may take between 7 to 10 business days in order for the check to arrive to your destination.
Hope you find this informative and have a nice day.
