I have a checking account at your bank and I have received a letter and form W-8BEN from your bank today. This letter ask me to provide evidence I am a citizen or national of a foreign country to avoid further U.S. tax withholding. I’m a research scholar (J-1 Visa holder) come from China. Would you please tell me how can I deal with the line 10(in Part II) of the form W-8BEN? I’m not sure about how to complete that. Thank you very much!

Thank you for joining us today on TD Helps, Rui. We'd be happy to help.
When filling out a W-8BEN form, typically you would fill out line #9 in "Part II", and only continue onto line #10 if the information requested directly applies to you.
If you are unsure on any other items of information to provide on the W-8BEN form, feel free to connect with us at any of your local TD Stores. Please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find TD Bank near you.
We apologize if this causes any inconvenience, Rui. Please enjoy the rest of your weekend!
