I am trying to get a new title from NH DMV, that I lost through the last move. The DMV will not issue me another title because it still shows on their records that BankNorth, N.A. is listed on the application for a certifcate of title that I had when I bought the car. Please help me. My husband and I are moving out of the state in September and do not want to take this car with us. We have a buyer for the car, but cannot turn it over to them without the title.

Based on your question, it sounds like you may be referring to obtaining a Release of Lien. This document proves that your vehicle had been paid off and therefore it will allow you to obtain a copy of the title.
To obtain this documentation, a fax is required. Please fax the following information to our Consumer Release Department at 207-753-3750:
• Your full name, address, and Social Security number • The account number, if it is available • The year, make, model and VIN, and the date it was paid off, if available • Your request for Discharge Papers/Release of Lien • Your signature
We also recommend including your best contact number and your return fax number so that we can assist you as efficiently as possible. Please keep in mind that the turnaround time for the request is typically 3-5 business days.

Please note that if your Auto Loan was financed via TD Auto Finance, please contact a TD Auto Finance Representative for instructions to obtain your Release of Lien. They are available Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 10:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm at 1-800-556-8172 to help you.
