Good morning, William, and welcome to TD Helps!
This is a great question.
Here at TD Bank, we currently offer a free person to person transfer service, which you can access right from your Online Banking, and can be used to transfer funds to anyone within the United States. This service to easy to use, and we'll be more than happy to walk you through the steps for your first time so that you may successfully complete a transfer to your wife's account!
To get started, you'll first want to log into your Online Banking, which you can do from here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. If you haven't yet enrolled in Online Banking, don’t worry! You can start the enrollment process by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1lU2qfY. In order to complete this process, you will need your account number, debit card number, a valid email address, and your Social Security Number.
Once you're able to fully access your Online Banking, towards the top of your screen, you should see a tab that read 'Send Money'. If you have never used this service before, you may need to accept some terms and agreements, and after doing so, you will be brought directly to the Send Money feature.
To get started with your transfer, you'll need your wife's email address, phone number, or even her account number. Should you wish to send funds directly to her account, please know that you will also need her routing number. Should you opt to send the funds to her email address, or via a text message, after you complete the transfer via your Online Banking, she will receive instructions on how she may proceed to have the funds transferred directly to her account.
If you haven't yet added your wife to your contacts, you can do so by clicking on the 'Add New Contact' link towards the right side of your screen. Simply enter in her first and last name and then select if you would like to send the funds to her phone, email address, or account number. After doing so, you will be prompted to enter in her information for whichever method you choose.
After saving this information, next you will be brought to a screen where you are able to select the amount you wish to send, and the delivery speed. Currently, for Instant Transfers, you will need to have a debit card, and your wife will need to be registered with Zelle; however, this information is not needed for you to complete a 3-day transfer. Regardless of the delivery speed you choose, this service is still free!
After selecting the amount and the delivery speed of your transfer, simply confirm the account you wish to have this transfer debited from, and then click 'Review'. This will bring you to a final screen, and after ensuring that all the information provided is correct, you will be able to send your transfer!
In the event that you run into any trouble, or if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact a Tech Support Specialist directly at 800-493-7562. Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for your convenience, and will be more than happy to help.
Please let us know if we can answer any additional questions for you, William!
Take care, and have a great Thursday!
