I started to open an account with you then half way through opening it online I changed my mind and exited. I did not think it went through but I got a statement showing I have a balance of -$37.00. I would like the account closed

Thanks for reaching out to us, Chris. We understand your concern and will be happy to discuss this with you.
First, we would like to let you know that in order to close an account, the balance must be zero. We apologize that we're unable to close or place a hold on an account which is overdrawn.
To better assist you, we recommend that you give one of our dedicated Banking Specialists at call, 24/7 at 888-751-9000. We'll be able to review your account with you and provide any options, as well as let you know how you might prevent the overdraft balance from increasing further. Or, feel free to visit us at any TD Bank Store here as well: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this helps a bit, Chris, and please let us know about any other questions.

Thanks for joining in the conversation, Frank. We'd be glad to help.
In order to close an account, the balance must be $0.00. As you mentioned that you have a remaining balance, we recommend visiting a TD Store during lobby hours. To take a look at TD Stores and their hours please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
You are also able to debit the funds from your existing account so the balance reflects $0.00. Once your balance is $0.00 you are able to call our Banking Specialists using the number mentioned above. After account verification, our Specialists will be glad to finalize your account.
If you are enrolled in Online Banking, you are also able to send a secure message to close your account if the balance is $0.00. To send a secure message you must first logon to your TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. On the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center."
We hope these options help, Frank and have a good day.
