I want to close my acoount. Do I get a check? Or can I just transfer to a linked account

You have several options for closing an account with us.
If there is a balance remaining in your account, you can visit us at any of our Stores to have the funds withdrawn and the account closed. We can issue you the balance in cash or in the form of an official check. To find a Store near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
If you're unable to visit us in person, we can close the account for you by phone or by secure message request. In order to do this, the balance must be zero. If you have another account, you could transfer the full balance to that account. Once the account is brought to a zero balance, simply give us a call anytime at 888-751-9000 or send us a secure message through online banking. To send a secure message, log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. Be sure that your request is detailed, including the account number you'd like closed. We can generally respond within 24 hours or less.
If you've moved some distance from a TD Bank Store, you also have the option to mail us a written, signed, and notarized request. This will need to be sent to your home Store. You can find their full address by using the link above for our Store locator. If you're unsure which Store is your home Store, we'd be happy to provide you that info. Just give us a call at that number above and we can give you the address.
