on June 2, 2017, Equifax reported a hard inquiry on my credit report from TD bank. I want to know why, ad I want to prohibit future such moves.

We're glad you were able to get in touch with us and we apologize to hear about any possibility of an unauthorized inquiry in your credit file.
The Federal Trade Commission provides this page: http://1.usa.gov/1f6utCg which lists the steps you'll want to take to dispute this error. First, you'll want to report the incorrect info to the credit reporting company and information on how to do this is given there.
The other step would be to report this error to us, TD Bank, and you may review the info listed here: http://bit.ly/1riK35l, to do so. Please be sure to follow all of the steps listed on this page.
