Greetings and thanks for writing into TD Helps, Ken! What a great idea to open a Savings account for your child! Children are keen observers. They learn how to manage money from their parents and they learn very young. Your attitude about money, and the actions you take to manage it, will have a lasting impact.
We invite you to take a look at the different types of Savings Account we currently offer, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1l6nLQ7. A popular account for minors that you may want to check out is our Young Saver account – it offers a great option to start saving for minors, while allowing you full control over the account as a Guardian. There's no minimum balance to keep and no monthly maintenance fees while still a minor. We also recommend taking a look at http://bit.ly/1gkKBA3 for more detailed information on this product type.
Also, here's a link our Personal Deposit Account Agreement for you to view for more specific information about our account terms: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ.
To set up a Young Saver Savings account. You will need to visit your local TD Bank Store and you will be listed as the custodian on this account. To find a TD Store location near you, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Please keep in mind that you will need to provide a valid form of identification to open the account, such as a State License, State ID or Passport. Acceptable forms of identification for minors include a School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security Card.
As always, you can reach out to a Banking Specialist anytime 24/7 at 1-888-751-9000 if you have any questions. Or, if you'd prefer to sit down and discuss your options in person, please find the TD Bank Store closest to you, during lobby hours.
We certainly hope this helps and feel free to come by any time you have a question, Ken. Have a good one!
