Saving & Managing Your Money
In reply to Jody, Coatesville
Hi there Jody,
What a great question – thank you for stopping by today!
We'd like to let you know that you are able to withdraw funds from your HSA account as appropriate. If you used a method of payment other than your HSA account for qualified medical expenses and would like to withdraw these funds from the account, please keep in mind that we recommend maintaining records of the original purchases or payments in order to ensure that you can properly document the reason for the withdrawal. Kindly note that it would be the account holder's responsibility to ensure that all withdrawals from a health savings account are used for qualified medical expenses.
Feel free to take a look at our Health Savings Account page here: http://bit.ly/1kAqsiB, which also includes a link to our Account Guide at the bottom. You may find some helpful information regarding distributions available there.
If you are unsure of what is considered to be a qualified medical expense, we can suggest that you check with your insurance company or tax adviser. You're also welcome to take a look at this page provided by the IRS, which has some info you might be able to use: http://1.usa.gov/1j3wK8M.
With any questions about your account in particular, Jody, we'd be happy to review this personally with you if you reach our dedicated HSA/IRA Department directly at 800-231-8193. Please choose Option 3, and we are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm to answer any questions you may have.
We certainly hope this helps with your question!
Thanks again for your message and have a great Monday.
