We understand your concern, Rose. We'd be glad to help.
Whether your payment is being processed as a physical check or a direct debit, you're able to place a stop payment.
First, if your bill payment was issued using TD Bank Bill Pay, we recommend giving us a call 24/7 at 800-493-7562, using Option 3, so that a Tech Support Specialist may review the payment made and let you know the options available.
Otherwise, if you issued payment yourself via check, direct debit or other means, we can certainly assist you when you call us at 888-751-9000, 24/7. Keep in mind that a stop payment request does not apply to debit card payments, only to direct debits (payments done through a checking account and routing number) or checks. A stop payment request is only valid for one year, if you would like it for longer, a new stop payment must be placed at the expiration of the first. If at some point you would like to remove it, you must contact us directly and notify us.
If you're certain that you issued the payment via a paper check or through a direct debit (using your routing and account numbers), in addition to connecting with us via telephone, you'll also be able to stop payment on the item via your Online Banking account. Please note that you will need the check number, the exact amount of the check as well as who it was made payable to.
To request a stop payment online, you will need to first log in to your online banking account here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you have done so, click the Customer Service tab on the top right, then use the Stop Payment link to continue.
Please note that depending on your Checking account type, there may be a fee applied for a stop payment. Please visit: http://go.td.com/1cTejgt to view our current Fee Schedule.
In addition, you may also stop by your nearest TD Bank Store location to request the stop payment request in person. To find TD Store locations near you, please visit, http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
We hope this helps and have a good day.
