Happy Sunday Amanda,
Great having you and thanks for writing in today.
We understand your concern regarding a possible charge since it sounds like you have already cancelled the services of this merchant. We'd like to let you know that it is possible to stop a debit from occurring on your account, but this depends on the type of payment method you used for it.
In case this was a recurring ACH/direct debit (a transaction using your routing and account numbers), you'll be able to place a stop on future transactions of the same amount from that company. Before requesting a stop payment, we encourage you to call us at 888-751-9000, 24/7 so that we can review the transaction type with you. When calling, if the item is eligible for a stop payment we can place it over the phone for you. In addition, you may also stop by your nearest TD Bank Store location to request the stop payment request in person. To find TD store locations near you, please visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Kindly note that any transactions made with a TD Bank Visa Debit card cannot be prevented, or stopped if they have already been authorized on your card, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If the recurring transaction had been authorized with your debit card number, then the debits must be stopped directly by the company. If they do charge you again after you requested cancellation and they're unwilling to refund you, feel free to contact us anytime, 24/7 at the number listed above so we can assist you in filing a claim.
Also, please note that depending on your checking account type, there may be a fee applied for a stop payment. Please visit: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to view our current Fee Schedule.
We hope this provides some direction here, Amanda.
Best of luck with this and we hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
