I had my primary account and then added my boyfriend as a joint account and I'd like to take him off.

Welcome to TD Helps. We will be sure to provide you with further direction.
As you currently have a joint account with your boyfriend, both signers have equal rights and access to that account. This means that neither signer can be removed from the account, if you do not wish to continue to share the account with him, the account must be closed. Once the account is closed, you may open a new personal account to which the other will not have access to. In order to close a joint personal account, only one signer is required to submit this request. The best and quickest way to handle it is by visiting your local TD Bank Store during normal lobby hours with your valid photo ID. To find the nearest TD Bank Store please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you decide to open a new account, we currently offer many ways in which you can open a new account with TD Bank. You can open the account online by selecting the "Open Account" box located beneath each specific account by following this link: http://bit.ly/WrwMg7. You could also contact us at 888-751-9000 to speak with our Banking Specialists who are available 24/7 for your convenience. If you prefer, you may stop by any TD Store for further assistance on opening an account. You may have your joint account closed and new individual account opened all at the same time.
We hope this is helpful for you, Katie and enjoy your day!
