In reply to Aurea, Newark
Thanks for contacting us on TD Helps, Aurea.
Knowing when your funds will be available is very important for account management.
The type of deposit you make determines when the funds will be available. Direct Deposits are available on the same business day that they are credited to your account, even while they are in a pending status. Similarly, Cash Deposits made with a Teller are also made available the same business day for your use.
Check Deposits work a little differently, when you deposit a check, the first $100 is made available right way. If you are a new account holder and your account has not been open for 30 consecutive days, Check Deposits can be held for 7-10 business days for verification purposes. After this grace period, not only will the first $100 be made available at the time of deposit but the rest of the funds will credit to your account the following business day.
If you make a deposit through the ATM, either cash or check, the first $100 dollars is credited immediately while the remainder of your deposit will be applied to the balance on the following business day. Unlike the ATM, the Mobile Deposit feature does not credit any funds initially. The funds will be credited on the following business day.

Hope it helps and have a great day.

I've recently been employed with a new company. I set up direct deposit with them. I received my pay stub yesterday but I have no received any of my funds as of yet. I called TD and they said they saw no pending transactions for my account for today or tomorrow but it could still randomly appear. why is my direct deposit taking so long?

Welcome to TD Helps, Emma. We'll be glad to shed some light on direct deposits.
Typically, when a direct deposit is originated, it may take 1-2 pay cycles for the direct deposit to be credited to your account. Some employers will take the first pay cycle as a test and send a deposit with a zero dollar amount to ensure all of your account information is correct. After the first "test" deposit, then they send the deposit for the full dollar amount.
We recommend contacting your payroll department for information on the status of your deposit. If you have any other questions please let us know by submitting another question, by giving us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or by visiting us at a TD location. To find a nearby Store please view: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Enjoy your day, Emma and take care.

So if my checking account was negative, and I deposited cash into the ATM to get it out of the red even before 11PM would I still be charged an overdraft fee?

Good to have you here with us, Danielle.
Generally speaking, cash deposits made at TD ATMs are available immediately. However, it must be made by 8:00 PM on a business day to cover the entire overdrawn balance in order to avoid any Overdraft fees.
Hope this helps and have a good one!

May 2, 2016 04:41:05 PM
In reply to Sarahi, Mahwah
Thanks for joining the conversation, Sarahi! We'll be sure to address your funds availability question for you today.
As it would depend on the method that the depositor chooses to determine how long it would take for funds to clear your account, we recommend reviewing our original response to Aurea as it goes over the deposit methods and their time frames.
If you should have any specific questions regarding your account, please give one of our 24/7 Banking Specialists a call at 888-751-9000 or you can visit us at any TD Bank during lobby hours. Click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a TD Bank near you.
We hope this helps, Sarahi and enjoy the rest of your day! Take care.

I deposited my check over mobile deposit around 1 or 2 am on Friday so I understand my funds would be deposited the next business day, which is Monday. It is now almost 1 am on Tuesday so all of Monday has gone by and yet my funds are still pending and I don't understand why it's taking so long.

In reply to Nicole, Watchung
Thanks for joining in, Nicole.
Please know that Friday, November 11th was a federal holiday. On federal holidays, the Federal Reserve is closed. Because of this banks, including TD, were working on Monday's business day.
When making check deposits with a Teller, the first $100 is usually made available immediately. If you are a new account holder and your account has not been open for 30 consecutive days, check deposits can be held for 7-10 business days for verification purposes. After your account has been opened for 30 days, not only will the first $100 be made available at the time of deposit but the rest of the funds will credit to your account the following business day.
Deposits made at a TD Bank ATM before 8:00 PM on a business day are considered deposits made on that same business day. A business day is every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays. If you make a deposit at an ATM before 8:00 PM on a business day that we are open, we will consider that to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a deposit at an ATM after 8:00 PM, or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day. Accounts that are 90 days old will have the initial $100 made available and generally see availability of funds the next business day.
Deposits made with TD Mobile Deposit act the same way as a deposit made with a TD ATM; however, the first $100 of your check will not be available at the time of deposit.
You may also take a look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement here: http://go.td.com/1kb17UQ. On pages 40-44, you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with information about when you'll have access to deposits.
If you have any questions or concerns about your deposit, we ask that you contact us directly 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or during lobby hours at a TD Store near you to speak with a Representative. To take a look at TD Stores near you and their hours please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
We hope this helps, Nicole. Have a good day.

Is there any way for the teller to take a hold off a cheque once it's been deposited into an atm? Is there a way for them to acquire the cheque if I go in and ask?

I'm starting a new job and we get paid on Fridays. I was curious how long will it take to clear? It's a new job so I don't know if that would slow the process down or what. I know checks will usually clear between 3-5am from my previous jobs. This is the first time its going in direct deposit my first check. If you could give me a window of when it would clear if it goes into my account on a Friday night at midnight that would be great, or if they release a certain amount of funds first like they do when you deposit a check. Thanks

Great question, Charles and thanks so much for stopping by today! We'll be happy to chat with you.
If you have funds which are directly deposited to your account, the funds will be available to use no later than 6:00 am on the date of your deposit. If you're anticipating a deposit of your payroll and your paydays are Fridays, for example, you can expect to receive the funds by 6:00 am on Friday of your pay week.
For any questions you may have, feel free to give us a call! We're available 24/7 for you and we can be reached at 888-751-9000. Or you can stop in at any of our convenient Store locations found here: http://bit.ly/TDStores. We also recommend getting in touch with your depositor, if your deposit does not arrive on the date you expect.
Hope this helps a bit, Charles! Thanks again for writing in and have a great afternoon.
