I closed a checking account today by phone, but I am keeping my other account with TD Bank. I have two questions:
1. How long does it take for the checking account to actually be closed? Will I know that it is closed when I stop seeing it through my online access?
2. I have requested to change all of my direct deposit and automatic payments to my other account... but if one of them happens to hit the closed account after it's closed, what happens? Does it get returned or does it hit the account even though it's closed?

We regret to hear that you wish to close your account. TD Bank remains committed to maintaining a high level of service standard and we take the concerns of our Customers very seriously.
The account closing process will take 2-3 business days to complete. If a transaction posts within this time frame there is a possibility the account may not close. We recommend contacting a Customer service agent to confirm the account has properly closed. You may do so by calling our Customer Service line at (888)751-9000 24 hours a day/7 days a week. You may also visit your nearest TD Bank location during lobby hours with valid identification. You may find a list of TD Bank store locations here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
