I need to get a post-dated check to my landlord right away, I went into my local TD branch, and they suggested I order checks for $50 (7-10 business days) or do the other thing that costs $7 (I forget what it was called). When they do that, they instantly take the funds out of your account, which wouldn't work for me as I don't have the funds in my account right now. So there was nothing that could be done. I came home, googled for a solution, and found this page, referencing these "temporary checks". I don't want to drive back in to town to no avail again, and the TD Branch isn't answering the phone, so I called the easy-line and they told me they don't know about any temporary checks. So I'm just wondering how to get these checks, and whether or not they can be post dated?

Thank you for submitting your question to us, Sean. We're happy to offer some suggestions that may work best for you. As issuing a post-dated check is a personal preference, we recommend connecting with your landlord to ensure that this is permissible. We'd like to inform you that while you may pick up temporary checks at any TD Bank Store location, we cannot guarantee that the funds will not be deducted from your account prior to the date you mark on the check. If your landlord deposited the check to their account, TD Bank would be require to honor the check even if it was post-dated for a later time. Due to this, we recommend trying out our Bill Pay feature on your online profile. This will allow you to select the date that you would like the check to be delivered to your landlord. It will have the date you select on the check and is of no cost to you. If you decide to use our Bill Pay service to send your check, you'll be happy to know that our Online Bill Pay is a great way to schedule bills and keep track of your monthly expenses. And as a TD Bank Customer, you will have free Online access which includes Online Banking, Bill Pay, and Mobile Banking! Before using this feature, you must first be enrolled for Online Banking. If you have not enrolled, you can do so by clicking here: http://go.td.com/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that you will need to have your account number, TD VISA/ATM Card number, Social Security number and email address to complete the enrollment process. Once you are logged in, you will need to enroll for Bill Pay. To enroll, please select the "Bill Pay' tab, you will then be asked to accept the Bill Pay user agreement. Once accepted, you can then immediately begin scheduling your bills! We suggest taking a look here http://go.td.com/1gJbtPW for more detailed information on using Bill Pay and scheduling payments. For more information on TD Bank Bill Pay, we invite you to take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page by clicking here: http://go.td.com/1UJTxEY. If you have any additional questions or you are having difficulty enrolling for Online Banking, you can call our Banking Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000, or our Tech Support Specialists at 800-493-7562 for assistance with Bill Pay (Option 3). You can also visit any TD Store. For lobby hours and locations near you please take a look here: http://go.td.com/1WxWpIB. If you need to reorder checks, you can do so right through our website, once you have enrolled for Online Banking, by following the steps below: • Log in to www.tdbank.com • Click on the Customer Service tab • Under Self Service section click on Order Checks Keep in mind that prices vary and will be provided at the time you place your order. Once you complete your order, charges will automatically be debited from your TD Bank account and your order will be shipped to the address on your account. Please note, after your order is placed, checks typically take 7-10 business days to arrive to your address. We're here to help if you have any other questions, Sean.
