Is there a minimum amount of time that I must keep my new account opening before closing it? I have only had the account open for two months, but no longer need it.

Good morning, Cici, and welcome to TD Helps.
It's great that you could join us today, and we'll be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Here at TD Bank, our Customers are welcome to close any deposit accounts they may not need at any time, without penalty. While we'd hate to see you go, we understand if you're no longer in need of your TD Bank account. Just in case you may not be aware, we'd also like to take a moment to review all the options you have when looking to close your account. Feel free to choose the one that is most convenient for you.
First, you're welcome to visit your nearest TD Bank Store location, during lobby hours, to speak with a Customer Service Representative. If you'd like, you may use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to find your nearest Store location, as well as their hours and contact information.
In addition to visiting a TD Store location to close your account, you're also able to connect with a Banking Specialist over the phone or by sending a secure message via your Personal Online Banking. It's important to note, however, that in order to close your account by phone or secure message, your account will need to reflect a zero dollar balance.
To close your account over the phone, simply dial 1-888-751-9000. For your convenience, our Banking Specialists are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you'd prefer to send a secure message requesting your account to be closed, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, towards the right hand side of your screen, you should see a 'Your Secure Messages' section. To send a message, simply click 'Send us a secure message.'
If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
We hope this information was helpful, Cici, and we thank you for bringing your question to us this morning.
Take care, and have an amazing start to your weekend!
