I deposited a pay cheque four days ago and it still has not cleared yet. My landlord is depositing my rent cheque on a Sunday and I am worried that the rent cheque will go through before the paycheque clears. Will that rent cheque bounce? How many days, typically, does it take for a cheque to go through that was deposited on a Saturday or Sunday? Thank you!

In reply to Joe, Toronto
Hello Joe, thank you for visiting us on TD Helps.
Noticing that you are connecting with us from Toronto, Canada, if you're inquiring about funds availability on your TD Canada Trust account, we invite you to visit here: http://bit.ly/1JOurR1 for a response previously replied by our friend Scott, up to the North with TD Canada Trust. Also, our friends in Canada can assist you further if you have any other questions. Check out their page here: http://bit.ly/1kD3iFr and feel free to submit your own inquiry while you are there.
If you are a Customer of ours, here in the United States, we're happy to explain the funds availabilities here. Generally speaking, when making check deposits with a Teller, the first $100.00 is made available immediately. If you are a new account holder and your account has not been open for 30 consecutive days, Check Deposits can be held up to 7 business days for verification purposes. After this grace period, not only will the first $100.00 be made available at the time of deposit, but the rest of the funds will credit to your account the following business day.
Check deposits made at a TD Bank ATM before 8:00 PM on a business day are considered deposits made on that business day. A business day is every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal holidays. If you make a deposit at an ATM before 8:00 PM on a business day that we are open, we will consider that to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a deposit at an ATM after 8:00 PM, or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day.
If you make a deposit through TD Bank Mobile Deposit and you submit the deposit before 8:00 PM EST on a business day, that is considered the date of your deposit; otherwise, the next business day is considered the date of your deposit. Your funds are generally available on the business day following the date of your deposit. Please keep in mind that deposits made through mobile banking will not have the first $100 available on the same business day. In most cases, the full amount becomes available the following business day.
Please note that there are exceptions that may cause delays in funds availability. We invite you to look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ . On pages 38-41 you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with information about when you'll have access to deposits.
Please also know that we are unable to determine when your rent check will be presented for payment by your landlord, or if it will be honored when it is presented if you do not have sufficient funds in your account to cover it at that time. As the answers vary depending on your account history, your overdraft history and your account settings etc…
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop by any of the TD Store locations in your area. To find out TD Store locations near you, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Thank you again for writing in, Joe. We hope you have a nice weekend!
