Thanks for reaching us on TD Helps, Tina. We'd be happy to help.
Though there is no minimum balance to keep an account open, there may be a minimum balance requirement for your account to avoid a fee. If your account falls below the required minimum, the maintenance fee would be assessed on the last day of your statement cycle. Additionally, you are able to deposit into your account as many or as few times a month as you'd like though minimum balance requirements would still apply.
We do offer different types of accounts, each of which has its own balance requirement. We encourage you to review our Checking accounts here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF and our Savings accounts here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT to locate yours. Please note balance requirements apply to each account individually unless otherwise noted with "combined minimum balance."
In regards to opening a Savings account, again there is no minimum to open an account however a minimum balance may be required. You are able to view our Savings accounts by visiting the link mentioned above or view our Savings Selector Tool here: http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM.
Once you're ready to open a Savings account, you are able to do so by selecting "Open Account" beneath the account of your choosing, calling us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000 or by visiting a TD Store during lobby hours. To take a look at Store locations and their hours please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Please know that you will need a valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, State issued photo I.D., passport etc.) and Social Security Number to open an account regardless of the method you choose.
We'd also like to clarify that your Visa Debit Card is linked to Checking accounts and ATM cards are linked to Savings accounts. To be able to use these cards, you simply deposit into your account.
We hope this information helps, Tina and have a good day.
