Welcome to TD Helps Alicia, we hope your day is going well so far. We would be happy to help answer your question regarding placing stop payments on a bank check.
Before we begin, please be informed that when placing stop payments, there are fees associated with this request. For details please check out: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
If you are looking to stop a payment on a personal check form your TD Account, if the check you are inquiring about has not been presented against your account yet, there are a few ways to do so.
An option you have to place a stop payment is via Online Banking. If you're not currently enrolled for Online Banking, you may do so by clicking: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your account number, ATM/debit card number and Social Security number to enroll online. Once you're logged in, please click on the "Customer Service" tab and then "Stop Payment." If you need help enrolling, please contact us at the number provided above.
You also have the option of calling us at 888-751-9000, available 24/7. Our Specialists would be happy to assist you in placing stop payments. Keep in mind you will need the check number, exact amount of the check as well as who it was made payable to. You may also go to a TD Store location for assistance. For lobby hours and locations of TD Stores near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
However, if this is pertaining to an Official Check or Money Order, you must visit any TD Store as long as you have the receipt. If you do not have the receipt handy, that is ok, we ask that you visit the TD Store you visited to purchase your check. Please keep in mind a few things:
- Money Orders can be stopped at any time and for any reason.
- Official Checks can only be stopped if it is lost, stolen, or destroyed.
We hope this helps Alicia. Have a great one and let us know if you have any other questions.
