Welcome to TD Helps, James.
We understand that sometimes individual banking needs change. We'd like to take the opportunity to share our Savings Selector Tool that can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM. It may help you choose a better Savings account to fit your needs. We also recommend taking a look at our Finance 101 page that can be found here: http://bit.ly/1dHULN9. The page has great tips for saving on a variety of budgets that may help you in the future.
If you still wish to close your account, there are a few ways you can do so. You can visit a TD Store during lobby hours for assistance. To take a look at locations near you and their hours please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores. You can also call our Representatives 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000.
You can also send your account closing request by Secure Message. In order to send a secure message you must first be enrolled in Online Banking and to start the process, please visit here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that you will need your account number, ATM/Visa Debit Card number and email address. Once enrolled, you may send a secure message by logging in and selecting "Send a secure message" located on the left hand side of the page, beneath "Message Center."
Please note that your account must be at a zero balance in order to close it via secure message and over the telephone.
We hope this helps, James and have a good night.
