Welcome to the TD Helps forum, Nicholas and great to hear from you! We'll be happy to provide you with some options today for your payment.
From your message, it sounds as though you need to send funds to your university in Germany via wire transfer. If this is the case, we'd like to let you know that for all accounts (except our Commercial accounts using eTreasury), international wire transfers must be conducted at a TD Bank Store with the other bank's wiring instructions. For a listing of all of our Stores, please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores. You can also review additional information on sending international wires at http://bit.ly/1oowsYN.
As you mentioned that you're currently in Germany, we'd like to provide a few possibilities for sending the funds via wire from there. First, if your account is a joint account, any owner may visit us at a Store to initiate the wire, if one of you is currently located in the U.S. As another option, you may wish to deposit a check from your TD Bank account to a local account you have there, and then send your wire from that account. Or, feel free to withdraw funds either via ATM or by Visa Cash Advance using your TD Bank Visa Debit card, and then deposit these to a local account. Again, if needed you may initiate a wire from your bank there.
Just in case we've misinterpreted your question and the funds don't need to arrive via wire, you may also be able to make a payment using your TD Bank Visa Debit card (if you have one), as these can be accepted at any location that takes Visa worldwide. We recommend checking with your university to see if this option may work, or to see if you can pay in cash after withdrawing it, as below. You may also be able to pay your university via a bank check, and we recommend looking into this possibility with the college and a local bank. If you can pay via this method, you may be able to bring cash to a local financial institution to purchase this type of check.
If you may opt to withdraw funds using either an ATM or a cash advance, please note that daily limits on our Visa debit cards are $750.00 for ATM withdrawals, and $5,000.00 for cash advances. For additional info, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ on pages 43-44.
If you are expecting to withdraw more than what is permitted on your daily limit, we can offer a couple of options to request an increase. Please note, in order to have your debit card limit increased you must have a deposit account older than 90 days that is in Normal status and have a sufficient balance to cover the requested amount.
To increase one of the limits on your Visa debit card, you can send us a written request via fax or Secure Message. You can send the fax to our Fulfillment Team at 856-533-1138, or please log in to your TD Bank Online account at http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and use the Send a Message link after clicking the Customer Service tab. With either method, please include the following information:
• Subject: Limit Increase • Account Number • Debit/ATM Card Number • Your Name • Contact Telephone Number • A Statement indicating to 'Please increase my total daily Visa (or POS or ATM) limit to $X for the day.'• Your Signature (for the fax option only)
Please note, limit increases are temporary and the transaction must be completed the same day that the limit increase is granted.
If you have any further questions or to review these options, you may contact us from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. For your convenience, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The US country code is 1-011.
We hope one of these will work for you, Nicholas! Best of luck with your studies and enjoy your time in Germany!
