Hello, my uncle has accounts at TD Bank and would like to transfer his money to a bank outside of the US. He's been overseas for over a year and is unable to travel back here to the US due to his bad health. My uncle also has no access to online banking because he didn't enroll before his debit card expired. What are his options regarding online banking access and transferring his funds?

Hey Rodolfo, thanks for coming to TD Helps. We are sorry to hear about your Uncle's health and we hope all is well.
First off, to help your uncle gain Online Access, we ask that he connects with us directly. Because you mentioned he is outside the U.S., he can reach us by calling 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. For his convenience, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The US country code is 1-011. After account verification, our Specialists would be happy to help get him up and running for his Online Banking.
Once he has successfully enrolled for Online Banking, he can then send us a secure message requesting a new TD Debit Card be mailed to him. After he logs onto his account online, please have him click on the "Customer Service" tab on the right and then the "Send a Message" link. In his request, he'll need to include the following information: his full name, account number, the address he would like the card to be sent to and this statement: "I accept full responsibility for the card being mailed to the alternate address." Once we receive this information, we can expedite a new debit card to his current address.
Although a wire transfer must be made at a TD Bank Store, once he receives his new TD Debit Card, your uncle can then withdraw funds from a local ATM, or use his debit card anywhere Visa is accepted. We are happy to say, neither Visa or TD Bank charges any kind of foreign transaction fees and with the TD Debit Card, it can be used anywhere VISA is accepted worldwide. Your uncle will also be able to use his Debit Card to make cash withdrawals internationally at any ATM Machine that displays either the VISA or NYCE logo. If he is unable to find a compatible machine, he would be able to use his Debit Card to obtain a VISA Cash Advance. Please note that non- TD ATM fees still may apply. For more information on the Fee Schedule, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
We hope this helps Rodolfo. Please let us know if you or your uncle has any other questions.

Hello Rodrigo and thank you for reaching out to us with additional information.
We're sorry to hear you're ill and would like to offer anything we can to help you with your banking needs. If your Checking and Savings accounts have remaining funds, an easy way to close the accounts is via mailed written request. You may request to close your accounts and have any available money in your accounts be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your account number(s)
▪Your request to close the account(s)
▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to the TD Bank location your accounts were opened at. For a listing of our TD Bank Store addresses, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
You also mentioned that you have an IRA CD account with us. Depending on the type and the term of your IRA CD, we recommend contacting our IRA department directly for further assistance. They can be reached Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 1-800-231-8193. You may also contact us from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. As we would like to assist you directly, unfortunately, we do not have access to your personal information since this is considered an unsecured forum.
We hope this helps and we wish you a speedy recovery.
