Also, does my parent/guardian need to be there if I'm granting them access to my account, even if I'm eighteen?

Good morning, Nicole,
Thanks for checking in and we're so glad to hear of your interest in opening a new account with us.
We can certainly answer all of your questions today. First, in order to open an individual account with TD Bank, you're required to be 18 years of age or older. Since you mentioned that you are, there is no need to add a joint signer (such as a parent/guardian) unless you prefer to list another person on your account. If you do decide to grant access to a parent or guardian, they will need to be listed as a joint account owner. To do so, each prospective signer must visit the TD Bank Store with you for account opening in order for them to be listed on the account.
If you're over the age of 18, you can visit a Store with a valid form of identification such as a State License, State ID or Passport and your Social Security number to open the account. There is no need to provide two forms of ID unless you are a non-citizen at this time. If so, one of your forms of ID must be a valid non-U.S. Passport with photo or valid non-U.S. Passport and Visa with photo and the second form of valid ID you may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
When opening a Student account, you'll also want to provide proof of full-time enrollment such as a Student ID or a tuition payment receipt to be eligible for this type of account.
Your parent or guardian to be listed on the account will want to bring the same forms of ID listed above. Please check out: http://bit.ly/TDStores for a TD Store near you.
Since you mentioned our Student checking, to find out more about this type of account, please visit http://bit.ly/S8Vejp. This account includes no monthly maintenance fee or minimum daily balance for students under the age of 24. Additionally, the monthly maintenance fee is waived on a TD Simple savings account when it is linked to a TD Student checking account.
Any questions at all, we're here to help! Just give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000, and we'll be happy to help with your inquiries, or set you up with an appointment at the TD Store you prefer.
Thanks again for the visit, Nicole.
Hoping you have a great Wednesday and we'll chat with you soon!
