Thank you for your interest in TD, George. We'd be happy to help!
As you mentioned that you're a Canadian resident, you'll be happy to learn that you're eligible to open a TD Bank US deposit account of your choosing. We invite you to view all of our account options so that you can find an account which best fits your needs. Our Checking Account options are listed here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF, or feel free to use our Checking Account Selector at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU. Checking Accounts are great if you need to pay bills or are looking for a Debit/ATM card to use while you're traveling in the US. If you're interested in a Savings Account, you can find our Savings products listed here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT. Or, you may find it helpful to use our Savings Selector Tool to find the one that meets your needs here: http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd.
Once you've chosen the right account for your banking needs, we'd like to invite you to visit http://bit.ly/1ishIab to begin an account with TD Bank in the United States. Please click on the Open a U.S. Account button on the right side. On the page which follows, additional information about the products we offer is available. Use the Open Account buttons to select your account and begin the application process.
If you happen to be near a TD Bank Store, you can also visit us during lobby hours. Additionally, you may also speak with a Representative from our TD Cross Border Banking Support Line 24/7 by calling 1-877-700-2913 Option 2, who can also assist you in opening the account by phone. However you decide to open an account, please be aware that you will need to provide your name, street address, date of birth, and up to 2 forms of valid identification to complete the account opening process. Acceptable forms of I.D. include: Canadian Nexus Card, Passport, Driver's License, Residence Card, Birth Certificate, etc. Please also keep in mind that your Canadian consumer credit profile will also be used to verify your identity.
Once your new account is set up, you may want to take advantage of our Cross Border Banking service if you also have an account with TD Canada Trust. You can transfer funds between your TD Bank US and TD Canada Trust accounts, free of charge. If you wish to, please feel free to speak with a Representative from our TD Cross Border Banking Support Line 24/7 at the number listed above. With this feature, you are able to do your banking without having to visit a TD Bank Store! For more information, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1ienPN4.
If you would like to open a US Dollar account with TD CanadaTrust, please look here: http://bit.ly/1t8jU86 for the details about this from our friends in Canada.
We hope this helps, George and have a great day.
