Hello, Jie. We’d love to welcome you to TD community and thanks for sending us your question to TD Helps.
To open an account with TD Bank N.A, we require that the funds must be exchanged to U.S. Currency. At any local TD Bank, we can exchange foreign currency to US Dollars. Please check out http://bit.ly/TDStores to learn more about our locations and lobby hours. Prior to your visit, we recommend calling the location you choose. You can also receive the latest exchange rates by calling TD International Services at 888-264-4685 or emailing them by visiting here: http://bit.ly/1pvwJIu. Please note that there may be fees associated with foreign currency conversions and for more information visit http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.

If you are a Non-US resident and do not have SSN at this present time, you will need to bring two forms of identification with you and stop by your local TD Bank store during our lobby hours to set up your new account. One form of ID must be a Non-US passport and the second form of ID you may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature - State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature - Foreign Driver's License with Photo - US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date - College ID with Photo - Alien Registration Card with Photo - Permanent Resident Card with Photo
If you are a Canadian resident and have a legal address there, you can visit http://bit.ly/1ishIab to begin an account with TD Bank in the United States. Please click on the Open a U.S. Account button on the right side. On the page which follows, additional information about the products we offer is available. Use the Open Account buttons to select your account and begin the application process.
If you prefer, you can speak with a Representative from our TD Cross Border Banking Support Line 24/7 by calling 1-877-700-2913, who can also assist you in opening the account by phone.
With either method, we request that you provide your name, street address, date of birth, Social Insurance number and valid identification to complete the account opening process. Please keep in mind that your Canadian consumer credit profile will also be used to verify your identity.
Knowing that you are interested in opening an account using Canadian Currency, TD Bank N.A. is affiliated with TD Canada Trust. Our friends across the border had a great conversation outlining the steps you'd need to open a Canadian account. Take a look here to see what Stephanie said: http://bit.ly/1w8ARER
Also, our friends in Canada can assist you further if you have any other questions. Check out their page here: http://bit.ly/1kD3iFr.
