As you're a US citizen, you should have no trouble opening an account. We encourage you to take a look at the different checking accounts we're currently offering at https://go.td.com/2qoQY2e. As far as opening the account, you have a couple of options.
If you're planning a trip to the US anytime soon, you can visit any one of our locations to open the account in person with a valid photo ID and Social Security Number. To find locations near where you'll be, please visit https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
You can also open the account by phone. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please note that during the new account opening process, we will need to verify your identity. Depending on how long you have been outside of the US, your most recent credit history may be taken into consideration for verification.
To call us from outside the US, please call us direct at 856-751-9000 or collect with operator assistance from a landline phone by asking the operator to dial 215-569-0518.
