Hi, Rosario! Thanks for coming to TD helps today with your question. We're sorry to hear of any difficulty with your debit card.
As we would like to assist you directly, unfortunately, we do not have access to your personal information since this is considered an unsecured forum. We are more than happy to guide you in the right direction.
Before any trip, we recommend placing a travel notification on your account before you leave to avoid any card acceptance issues. And even if a note is already placed on your account, our automated advanced fraud early warning systems may block your debit card until we are able to verify the account activity with you.
If you have not already done so, or to review your account for any block, you can reach us from outside of the United States 24/7 at (856)-751-9000, or you can call us collect from a landline at (215)-569-0518 with operator assistance.
If you have internet access at your current location in Italy and you are enrolled in Online Banking, you can submit your travel notification or communicate with us about your account via Secure Message. To send a secured message, you can log in to your online account by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. Please click the Customer Service tab and on the left hand side, you should see an option to Send a Message located in the Message Center. In your message, please include the dates and destination(s) of your trip.
If you are not enrolled for Online Banking, you can do so for free here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your Social Security number, TD Bank ATM/Visa Debit Card, your account number and e-mail address. Once you have successfully enrolled, you will have immediate access to your account(s).
As you have mentioned that your debit card isn't working at ATMs, you may be experiencing an issue with your PIN. If this may be the case, in the interim we suggest using the "Credit" portion of your card which doesn't require the PIN until you are able to contact us for assistance. We can also recommend a Cash Advance, which may be available inside a local bank in Italy for obtaining cash.
While traveling, we recommend carrying more than one method of payment, just in case you encounter any acceptance issues. For more travel tips while overseas, please visit http://bit.ly/1gDrDYu. You may also want to review our international travel tips frequently asked questions by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1ltwDDc.
We hope this is information you can use, Rosario and this is resolved quickly for you. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
