Thanks for connecting with us on TD Helps today, Joe. Moving can be a challenging yet exciting time in one's life and we'll be glad to answer any of your questions to help the process go as smooth as possible on the financial end.
You would be able to wire funds from your TD account to another Financial Institution in Texas. Since you would be making a transfer within the US, you will need to gather the name, address and ABA/routing number of the receiving bank, the name on the account that is to be credited, the beneficiary address and the account number. You may want to contact the other financial institution to determine what information they require to receive the wire. Please note that wire transfers can only be scheduled at a TD Bank location during lobby hours. For lobby hour information and locations near you please take a look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you are unable to visit a TD Store, that is okay! Other options that we have available to you would be either External Transfers or Person-to-Person Payments. These two features are available to you via your TD Online Banking. You would use the External Transfer feature if you're sending money from your TD Bank account to another one of your accounts at another Financial Institution. Whereas, you would use the Person-to-Person Payment feature if you're transferring to a family or friend who banks at a different Financial Institution. We'll be glad to go over both options with you.
To use these features, you must first be enrolled for Online Banking. If you're not currently enrolled for Online Banking and you have an ATM/Debit Card and Social Security number you may fill out the online application to access your personal account(s). Once you have successfully enrolled, you can now use the features mentioned.
For External Transfers, once you're logged in online, please click on the "Transfers" tab. Next, you will then have to click "Transfer to Accounts Outside TD Bank." You would have to add your account at a different institution. To do so, select "Add a New Account." You will then be prompted to select the type of account followed by the account and routing numbers. Once you enter the required fields, the transfer service will then display whether or not you can make an immediate transfer. In some cases, a trial deposit is initiated at the receiving institution for verification purposes. You will have two delivery options with External Transfers, three day or next day delivery. The next day delivery option will become available to you after 90 days of your first successful 3 day transfer and your account must be without any overdrafts in the past 90 days.
To set up a Person-to-Person Payment you may click on the tab at the top of your Online Banking page titled "Person-to-Person Payments." You will then be asked to accept a user agreement, review the fee schedule and confirm your email and phone number. A text and email code will be sent to the mobile number and email address we have on file for you. Next we will request you to submit both codes for verification to complete the enrollment process. Once the enrollment is complete you’ll be ready to send the payment! Like the External Transfers option, you will have the three business day option and the option to send the payment with the next business day delivery for Person-to-Person Payments. Again, please note, the next day delivery option is not available for savings accounts. To qualify for the next day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful 3-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days.
Also, please keep in mind, External transfers and Person-to-Person Payments can only be conducted to or from a U.S. account in U.S. currency only. They can only be made from an Eligible Transaction Account: for example, personal Checking, Money Market or Savings accounts are usually allowed, with you as a signer on the account. Please note, accounts excluded from using this service due to ACH restrictions include, but are not limited to: Passbook, IRA, Holiday Club, Club Saver, and CDs.
